PRESS INFORMATION
The well-known Dutch
hatdesigner Caroline de
Roy van Zuydewijn, born
May 1961, makes hats for
many VIPS. For example, in
2002 she made the hat of
princess Irene
for the wedding of
prince Willem-Alexander and
princess Maxima (from
Holland).
All kinds of media have
already payed their
attention to
Caroline and her special
hatstore 'Hoedensalon
CRZ', which is
now located in Antwerp,
Belgium. Glossy magazines,
newspapers like the Wall
Street Journal,
television... For example,
she made appearance in
television programmes like
'Royalty' VTM
Belgium, 'Blauw
Bloed' EO
the Netherlands and
'Hallo Deutschland' (25 years
queen Beatrix from Holland)
ZDF Germany.
THE HISTORY OF
HOEDENSALON CRZ
Hoedensalon and Hoedencafé
On 1 April 1992
the hatdesigner Caroline de
Roy van Zuydewijn and her
husband, the artist Jozef
Bloks, opened in Eindhoven
the unique combination of
the first and only
'Hoedensalon & Hoedencafé'. Unique in the Netherlands
and probably in the whole
world.
A lot of activities
around the hat did happen:
Exhibitions, workshops, a
yearly hatball, hatshows, a
television fashion programme
called 'For You' (RTL4) was
presented by Leontien
Ruyters (the wife of the
famous Dutch singer Marco
Borsato) etc.
'Lightly
Lectures'
about the
phenomenon hat were given by:
Drs. Marion Conrads (art
historian and collector) Mr.
Matt Dings (journalist HP/De
Tijd) Dr. Jan Reijs (cultural
advisor/former director of
the municipal theatre of
Eindhoven)
The media payed
a lot of attention to these
activities. For one of the
most important activities,
the programme
'High
Tea & Trying on Hats' (a programme
about the history of the hat),
the biggest womenmagazine of
Holland 'LIBELLE', published
in 1997 a complete
full-colour page
advertisement with the
result that this programme
became enormous populair.
For more than 3 years it was
completely sold out every
day. Sometimes Caroline
performed 2 till 4 times a
day. (She can also do this
programme in English and
French.)
REMOVAL 2000:
The
Hoedensalon moves to Antwerp,
Belgium
Eindhoven became literally
and figurative to small: The
Hoedencafé was sold and all
the activities were united
in the new compagny
'Hoedensalon CRZ'
(the biggest and most
allround hatstore from
probably the whole world) of
which Caroline became the
director.
She choosed for a
beautiful old building out
of the 17e century in
the old town of Antwerp, a metropolis with
many potential and because
Antwerp was very strong
developping itself as a
important fashioncity. The
fashionproject 'Mode 2001
Landed - Geland' from the
worldfamous Belgium
fashiondesigner
Walter van Beirendonck
which should start at the
end of May 2001, the
fashionmuseum 'MoMu'
that soon should open its
doors so... reasons enough
for moving the Hoedensalon
CRZ to Antwerp.
Hoedensalon CRZ is since
2001 a part of many
fashion and citytrips.

there is a large number of
VIPS who visited
Hoedensalon CRZ or do ware a

In 2002 Caroline designed
the hat of
princess Irene
for the wedding of prince

princess Maxima (from
Holland) and in 2003 she
made many hats for the
wedding of
prince Laurent and princes
Claire from
Belgium.
Every year Caroline designes
hats for

Holland (the day that queen
Beatrix does her speak of
the throne and all the
